The Darren Shan website has served its audience for over a quarter of a century. Recognizing the need for a significant transformation since its last major update in 2014, we embarked on a complete overhaul in late 2024. The content management system has been upgraded from the still operable version 2 to the state-of-the-art Expression Engine 7 PRO.
The site is home to approximately 5,000 curated content entries—including books, interviews, reviews, short stories, and a 25-year archive of monthly newsletters. Showcasing global book cover artwork from 70 books published in over 40 countries, the refreshed site boasts a modern, clean, and responsive design.
Central to this transformation is a user-flow that intuitively centers around each book title, its associated covers, and reviews. Expression Engine 7 powers the logical and easy-to-navigate content management system, utilising its native capabilities to make managing and editing the large content library both simple and enjoyable.
