The Darren Shan website has been online for over a quarter of a century. With the last major update in 2014 the site was very much in need of a complete overhaul.
The content management system was upgraded from the old but still functioning version 2 to the latest version, Expression Engine 7 PRO.
The site consists of approximately 5000 content entries comprising books, interviews, reviews, short stories an archive of 25 years of monthly newsletters and global book cover artwork from 70 books published in over 40 countries.
Refreshed with a modern clean responsive design the key part of the overhaul was in creating a user-flow that centered on each book title and it’s related covers and reviews. Using Expression Engine 7 facilitated the creation of a logical and easy-to-use content management system that leverages native functionality to ensure that managing and editing the extensive content library is simple and enjoyable.
